Seals in Wellington Harbour

(download)

The great thing about Wellington is you feel both that you're in a city and close to nature at the same time. For example, while running by the harbour I (and several children) spotted two seals frolicking just a few meters from shore. They'd pop their heads up and just stare at the children for several moments before submerging and then coming a bit closer to the shore the next time. I'm sure there is a more scientific explanation, but it looked as though the seals were out for an evening swim -- made me wish I were a seal. I was not the only jogger who stopped and pulled out their iPhone to take a snap. Seals are damn cool -- we've got loads of them in Oregon too.
